The Platinum Coast’s Next Chapter

The Platinum Coast’s Next Chapter
By Karyn Fakoory

Barbados’ Platinum Coast has always stirred the imagination — where turquoise waters meet golden sands and sleek resorts blend effortlessly with historic charm. Now, from Holetown to Porters, this coveted stretch is buzzing with renewed energy. New hotels, boutique residential enclaves, and prime redevelopment sites are quietly reshaping the coastline, signaling a fresh wave of opportunity for discerning investors.

Platinum Bay
This prime three-acre site is listed at US $30 million — one of the last true trophy parcels along this coastline.

Sunset Crest
Tucked into Sunset Crest, Lily Villas has introduced eight two-bedroom apartments of roughly 1,100 square feet, each priced below US $500,000.

Holetown Civic Centre
At the heart of Holetown, the historic Civic Centre is poised for a major transformation. The site, which currently houses government offices, the police station, and the library, is set to make way for a 100-room, five-star hotel — a move that will elevate the town’s already vibrant core. The civic facilities will be relocated inland to Trents, where a new complex is planned.

Royalton Vessence Barbados
Further along, the former Discovery Bay Hotel is being reimagined as Royalton Vessence Barbados — a 220-room, adults-only, all-inclusive resort slated to open in summer 2026. It promises to bring a new level of polish to this legendary beachfront.

Settlers Beach
A site with rare beachfront presence — perfectly suited for a flagship villa or boutique hotel development.

Porters
Momentum continues in Porters. The prime 11-acre site opposite Heron Bay has been purchased by a well-known developer and plans are underway for a future mixed-use vision.

Westport
Just inland, Westport adds another layer to the story. Recent sales around the US $2.5 million mark confirm the appetite for turnkey homes, with buyers ready to step straight into the lifestyle.

Investment Incentives — A Strong Backdrop
One of the key drivers behind this wave of redevelopment is the robust incentive structure offered by various agencies within the Barbados Government.

Import-duty and VAT exemptions on construction materials, furnishings, and equipment

  • 150% interest write-offs on approved loans, and accelerated capital-expenditure deductions for up to 20 years
  • Tax holidays of up to 25 years, followed by reduced rates for an additional 15 years
  • Additional allowances and tax relief in designated Special Development Areas, including land tax exemptions, reduced corporate tax, and annual building allowances

These fiscal advantages, combined with the ongoing redevelopment of Holetown and Porters, make the West Coast a compelling corridor for resort, villa, and mixed-use investment.

From blue-chip resort sites to sleek new villas, this stretch of coastline is entering a new chapter. It remains the Platinum Coast of old — sophisticated, sun-soaked, and effortlessly elegant — but now with a renewed sense of momentum. For investors and lifestyle buyers alike, Holetown to Porters is very much a place to watch.
